How to tell whether a price drop is a useful deal

Understand observed price history, discount percentages, missing delivery costs and product variants when comparing online deals.

Compare against an observed reference price

BuyScout deal savings use the lowest recorded item price in the preceding 30 days, excluding the last 24 hours. This is the price history BuyScout observed, not a guarantee of the lowest price across the entire market. A crossed-out price from a shop may use a different reference.

Check how much history is available

A product observed on three days has a shorter evidence base than one checked throughout the month. Review the history start date and observed-day count. Where offered, use the at-least-seven-observed-days filter to require a longer record.

Separate product savings from delivery costs

A percentage saving refers to the product price unless explicitly stated otherwise. Higher shipping can cancel out the saving. If delivery or taxes are unknown, compare the known components and confirm the remaining charges at checkout.

Keep the variant and condition consistent

A price drop for a different size, capacity or condition is not a discount on your selected item. Open the product, choose the variant, and inspect the specific offer before following the shop link.

Recheck availability before buying

Prices and stock can change after the last check. Review the timestamp, open the merchant link and confirm the exact product, current price and delivery. Affiliate links may earn BuyScout a commission; they do not establish that an offer is the cheapest.
